Public Transport in Prague
THE CITY TRANSPORT AUTHORITY (Dopravni Podnik or just DPP in Czech language) network covers the whole city of Prague and includes trams, city buses, metro (subway) and funicular.
The same ticket is used on all parts of the public transport system. Validate your ticket as soon as you enter the vehicle.
The fare is as followed:
- Adult 40 Kc ticket (max 90 minutes after punching)
- Adult 30 Kc ticket (max 30 minutes after punching)
- Children under 6 years may use public transport free
- Baby prams with child may use public transport free
- Lugagges 20 Kc (Free transport applies to luggage up to and including 25x45x70 cm)
Cheaper and more convenient is a short term travel pass good for unlimited travel on trams, city buses and metro.
- 1 day pass (24 hours)
- 3 day pass (72 hours)
You will be charged up to 950 Kc if you do not have any pass or validated ticket!!!
METRO NETWORK
Metro network is safe, reliable and clean. There are three lines and 40 stations. It runs from 5 am to midnight (in weekends until 1 am) daily every 3-10 minutes.
The Prague METRO network consists from 3 lines designated by letters:
LINE A =green (Depo Hostivař - Nemocnice Motol)
LINE B = yellow (Černý most - Zličín)
LINE C = red (Letňany - Háje)
You have a possibility to change at stations Museum (A x C), Můstek (A x B) and Florenc (B x C). Tickets must be punched before the first journey - you will find instructions in English at all metro stations.

BUS AND TRAM NETWORKS
Bus and tram network covers the whole city of Prague. It is the fastest and most efficient way of getting around Prague after the metro and often a good way to see the city. Most of the trams and buses run from 4:30 am to 12:00 pm daily every 5-25 minutes. There is limited night service on certain lines from midnight to 5 am every 30 minutes. Timetables are displayed at every stop.
Central night tram terminal is located at the crossing of Lazarská and Spálená streets - stop Lazarská.
